Marrakech is a city worth visiting on a trip to Morocco. I have great memories, others a bit more controversial, but I highly recommend spending a day or two in Marrakech when we have the chance to visit Morocco.
Spices in Marrakech
We visited my friend and me, Marrakech it a few months ago, during our tour of southern Morocco. We stayed only a day and a half in Marrakech, the time to visit the main points of interest (but we did not have time to hang out). This former imperial city has an important historical legacy, in part because many dynasties have followed: the Almohad Almoravids and Saadi. The architecture of the historic buildings and monuments is very interesting.
In the morning, we started the tour on our way to Marrakech Menara garden, located near the city center. On the road, I was surprised to find heavy traffic on Avenue Mohammed V. Some tourists travel by carriage, others conduct treks by camel, it's pretty exotic!
In the Menara gardens, we find forty varieties of olive trees and the irrigation system in place, dating back over 700 years. It is a large pool located next to a flag that as a reservoir for. I enjoyed the tour of the gardens, it is an opportunity to take a nice walk and take a breather, because the atmosphere is relatively quiet compared to the bustle of the Jemaa El Fna, that I had the opportunity to learn in the afternoon ...

We then took a taxi towards the Koutoubia mosque. Rather than drop us off near the Koutoubia, the driver chose to drop us nearby, outside the shop of his cousin in us encouraging them to go ... We were surprised at first, but in Morocco, that's how ... so we joined the Koutoubia walk! This religious building is the art Almohad (although the construction of the monument began in the Almoravid dynasty in the 12th century). This mosque is also known as the "mosque of the booksellers' because it was at the souk merchants manuscripts. The exterior architecture of the Koutoubia, including the minaret worth a glance. The park surrounding the monument is also very peaceful and enjoyable.

Overall, I have fond memories of my trip to Marrakech. It is an amazing city, bustling with the wonderful architecture. One or two days can discover the main attractions of Marrakech. Personally, we would not want to stay longer because we were a little "tired" by hard sellers in the souks. However I recommend of course to visit Marrakech, but especially to discover southern Morocco that I loved
